Limited Lifetime Warranty Explained
100% coverage for manufacturing defects including materials and labor.
Warranty becomes prorated based on a 50-year schedule.
The roof maintains 20% of its material value for the remainder of its life.
Standard Warranty Coverage
- Performance and Appearance Protection – Covers defects affecting both roof performance and aesthetics, including staining or discoloration.
- Algae Resistance Warranty – 10 years of non-prorated protection against algae growth.
- 110 MPH Wind Warranty – Standard wind protection with CertainTeed’s Generation 3 High Performance Sealant.
Upgrading the Wind Warranty to 130 MPH
The wind warranty can be upgraded when these installation steps are followed:
- Install shingles with 4 nails per shingle (some wind zones require 6)
- Install CertainTeed SwiftStart Starter along the entire roof perimeter
- Install a pre-cut ridge product such as Shadow Ridge, Cedar Crest Ridge, or Mountain Ridge

CertainTeed Integrity Roof System Components
To qualify for extended warranties, the following system components must be installed:
- CertainTeed Landmark or Landmark Max Def Shingles
- WinterGuard Ice and Water Shield installed in valleys and around penetrations
- Roofers Select Felt or DiamondDeck Synthetic Underlayment
- CertainTeed Ridge Vent if ridge ventilation is used
- Pre-Cut Ridge Products such as Shadow Ridge, Cedar Crest Ridge, or Mountain Ridge
- XT5 3-Tab Shingles may be used on hips and ridges
- XT25 3-Tab Roofs can qualify for 3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star warranty coverage
